Pyeongchang has been chosen as candidate city for 2010 winter olympics

Pyeongchang, a city 182 kilometers east of Seoul, has been chosen as one of the four candidate cities for the 2010 Winter Olympics. According to the Pyeongchang Bidding Committee, The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Wednesday made the selection at an executive board meeting held in Lausanne, Switzerland. The other three cities are Vancouver, Canada; Bern, Switzerland; and Salzburg, Austria. The IOC will select a city to host the 2010 Winter Olympics from among the four candidate cities at a meeting slated for July next year in Prague after on-site surveys are completed.
