Korea Telecom (KT) is planning to launch a new communication and broadcast satellite on December 30th at the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana.

Equipped with transmitters for communication and broadcasting purposes, the “Ole-1” satellite will provide high-definition and 3-D broadcasts.

KT said that the life span of the Ole-1 has been expanded to 15 years, 25 percent longer than that of KT's Mugunghwa-3 satellite.

KT will have four communication and broadcast satellites in orbit once the Ole-1 is launched.
