S.Korea Adds Silver in Rowing at Guangzhou

South Korea added a silver medal in rowing at the Guangzhou Asian Games on Friday, the eighth day of the sporting event.

Shin Yeong-eun won the silver in women's single sculls with a time of seven minutes 46.50 seconds.

South Korea will aim for more gold Friday in weightlifting, baseball, taekwondo and fencing.

Weightlifter Jang Mi-ran will face China's Meng Suping in the women's over-75-kilogram event.

The baseball team will face Taiwan in hopes of earning its first title in baseball at the Asian Games in eight years.

In fencing, Nam Hyun-hee will seek to win a gold in the women's individual foil.

In taekwondo, Lee Dae-hoon has passed the first round in the men's under-63-kilogram division and Jang Se-wook is aiming for gold.

The men's soccer team will face Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals Friday.

South Korea currently sits in second place after China with 37 gold, 32 silver and 43 bronze medals.
