Park Tae-hwan Wins His 3rd Gold Medal

South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan has won three gold medals at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

On the sixth day of the sporting event Wednesday, South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan edged out China’s Lu Zhi Wu to win another gold medal in the men's 100-meter freestyle event after coming in first with a time of 48-point-70 seconds.

Park earlier grabbed gold medals in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events. This is the second consecutive Asian Games where Park won three gold medals.

Female swimmer Jeong Da-rae won her first ever gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes 25:02 seconds. It has been twelve years since a female swimmer has won a gold medal in the Asian Games.

South Korean athletes won gold medals in shooting and equestrian as well.

Hong Seong-hwan won the gold in the men’s 25-meter standard pistol event with 575 points, and South Korea won another gold medal in the same category's team event.

In equestrian, Hwang Young-shik won the gold medal in the dressage individual.

South Korean soft tennis player Yohan Lee beat his countryman Bae Hwan-sung to capture the gold.

South Korea is currently ranked second with 29 gold, 22 silver and 31 bronze medals.
