S.Korea Adds 5 Golds in Swimming, Shooting, Equestrian at Asian Games

South Korea has added five gold medals in swimming, shooting and equestrian events at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

On the sixth day of the sporting event Wednesday, South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan added another gold medal in the men's 100-meter freestyle event after coming in first with a time of 48-point-70 seconds.

Park earlier grabbed gold medals in the 200- and 400-meter freestyle events.

Female swimmer Jeong Da-rae won her first ever gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes 25:02 seconds.

On the sixth day of the sporting event Wednesday, Hong Seong-hwan won the gold in the men’s 25-meter standard pistol event with 575 points, defeating North Korea’s Kim Jong-su who put up 573 points to take silver.

Hong and two other South Korean shooters --- Jang Dae-kyu and Hwang Yoon-sam --- also won the gold medal in the men’s 25-meter standard pistol team event.

In equestrian, Hwang Young-shik won the gold medal in the dressage individual.

The team of female South Korean shooters --- Lee Na-rae, Na Yoon-kyung and Kwon Na-ra --- won the silver medal in the women’s 50-meter rifle three position team event.

South Korean soft tennis player Yohan Lee captured the gold, while Bae Hwan-sung and Aekyung Kim garnered silver medals in the same event.

South Korea is currently ranked second with 28 gold, 21 silver and 30 bronze medals.
