F1 Korean Grand Prix Opens in Yeongam

The 2010 Formula One Korean Grand Prix has opened at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province.

The opening practice session on Friday morning marked the first time for South Korea to host an F1 event since the races started 60 years ago.

A total of 24 drivers from 12 teams will compete in the Korean Grand Prix, which is the 17th race of this year's 19-race season.

With the hosting of an F1 event, South Korea has now played host to the three biggest sporting events in the world --- Formula One, the Olympics and the World Cup.
