The racetrack for South Korea's first Formula One event next week has been approved by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

The event operator, the Korea Auto Valley Operation (KAVO), and the Formula One organizing committee say the federation has approved the Korean International Circuit in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, following inspections on Monday and Tuesday.

The five-point-six kilometer track for the Korean Grand Prix was completed last week.

The federation will send a certificate of formal approval for the track on October 21st, one day before the games. Practice runs will be held on the 22nd, preliminaries on the 23rd and the final race on the 24th.

The 24 race cars of the competing teams will arrive at Incheon International Airport on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Korean Grand Prix will be the 17th Formula One race of the season.
