Services for WiBro mobile wireless technology will begin in Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon and Ulsan on Friday.

Mobile carrier KT said Friday that such services, which previously were offered only in the Seoul metropolitan area, will also become available on major expressways, including the Gyeongbu Expressway and the Honam Expressway.

KT also unveiled plans to establish 82 WiBro networks nationwide by next March through the WiBro infrastructure that was jointly established by Intel and Samsung Electronics.

The move is expected to make South Korea the first nation in the world to have a WiBro network that enables users to log onto high-speed Internet anywhere in the country.

Meanwhile, KT and Intel plan to soon release notebooks and netbooks that come installed with WiBro chips.
