IABA to Allow S.Korean Boxers to Compete in Global Competitions

The Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) said Friday that the international governing body for boxing will allow South Korean boxers to compete in global competitions including the upcoming Asian Games.

It will also lift the sanctions imposed on South Korea's boxing body.

In addition, the KOC said the International Boxing Association (IABA) will reinstate the Korea Amateur Boxing Federation (KABF) when the KABF votes in a new president at the end of this month.

The international association had provisionally stripped the Korean federation of its membership last Monday because the KABF had not complied with its order to name a new president to replace former head Yoo Jae-joon and its council.
