The Defense Ministry will make a bid to host the 2015 CISM Military World Games in collaboration with provincial governments in North Gyeongsang Province.

A ministry official said that the government Tuesday approved the ministry’s bid to host the international event and that it will submit its application to the headquarters of the International Military Sports Council in early October.

The ministry will begin promotional activities to have six cities in North Gyeongsang Province, including the city of Mungyeong, host the sixth Military World Games in 2015.

The CISM Military World Games, which are held every four years, have been dubbed the Olympics for soldiers. They consist of events in 25 disciplines including shooting and soccer.
