Ex-Nat'l Soccer Coach Joins K-League Team

Former national soccer coach Huh Jung-moo will take over the domestic K-League club Incheon United FC this week.

Huh announced last week that he received the offer but had not decided whether to accept.

A news release from the Incheon city government, which manages the team, says Huh will make the official announcement Monday at a joint news conference with Incheon Mayor Song Young-gil.

Huh was named national team coach in late 2007 and led the Taegeuk Warriors to the second round of this year's World Cup in South Africa, a first for the country on foreign soil.

He announced his resignation early last month, saying he wanted to rest and study European soccer but also cited malicious posts against him on the Web as a factor.

Incheon United is ninth in the 15-team K-League. The team's Serbian coach Ilija Petkovic stepped down in the middle of this season and an assistant coach has run the team since.
