Slugger Lee Dae-ho of the Korean pro baseball team Busan Lotte Giants has set a world record by hitting a home run in nine straight games.

The infielder hit a three-run blast against the Kia Tigers in Gwangju in the top of the second inning to break the mark with two on and one out. The 28-year-old sent a 135-kilometer-per-hour forkball from Kia's Kim Hee-geol over the centerfield fence.

Lee is leading the Korean league with 38 home runs this season.

The previous domestic consecutive home run-hitting streak had been six set by three players.

Among U.S. Major League Baseball players, Ken Griffey Jr., Don Mattingly and Dale Long each had home run-hitting streaks of eight games.

Before setting the world record Saturday, Lee broke the Korean mark Thursday and the Asian mark Friday.
