The Ministry of Environment will step up the management of living modified organisms (LMO) to prevent them from having adverse effects on the ecosystem.

In observance of this, follow-up measures will be strengthened. They include a thorough monitoring of the production and distribution channels of LMO, including those for corn and beans.

In addition, methods will be devised to evaluate the impact LMOs have on the ecosystem.

The ministry says the revised plan for the enforcement decree of the safe management of LMOs is being discussed with the relevant authorities.
