Soccer defender Cha Du-ri has signed a two-year deal with Celtic FC of Scotland after passing a physical.

Cha will join fellow compatriot Ki Sung-yueng on the Scottish Premier League team.

Celtic said on its homepage Saturday that the deal has a one-year option and is subject to a work permit, adding it is pleased to sign the Korean international.

Cha will likely play right fullback for Celtic. His last pro club was SC Freiburg of Germany's Bundesliga.
