Monetary Award for Taegeuk Warriors to Differ

A monetary award will be given to South Korea’s national soccer team for having reached the second round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa for the first time away from home ground.

However, the 23 players will be divided into four grades and will receive different amounts.
The amounts will range from 170-million won to 90-million won.

The Korea Football Association said the four grades will depend on the degree of each player’s contribution. Coach Huh Jung-moo and his assistant coaches will decide upon analyzing the length of time they played and points racked up in a combination of goals and assists.

After the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, every player received 300-million won each. After the 2006 World Cup Germany, a four-tier system was applied, albeit with smaller amounts in prize money than this year.
