Korean-American Runner Completes Epic Feat

A Korean American aged 63 has completed an epic run in the U.S. from coast to coast.

Kwon Yi-ju left Los Angeles on the U.S. West Coast March 23rd and ran some 5,600 kilometers over 95 days. He arrived at U.N. headquarters in New York at 3 p.m. local time Friday.

He says the marathon was to express his wish for world peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula on the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.

Kwon also says he wants to publicize to the world South Korea’s territorial rights to the Dokdo islets and use of the name East Sea to describe the body of water between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

Japan has claimed the islets, which are South Korea's easternmost territory.
