South Korea is celebrating the national soccer team’s advance into the 2010 FIFA World Cup’s second round.

Donned in red garments, a total of 430-thousand people took to the streets nationwide to root for the Taegeuk Warriors.

Despite the 3:30 a.m. local time start, Seoul Plaza and nearby Taepyeong-ro were crowded with some 70-thousand people who participated in overnight outdoor gatherings to cheer on Team Korea.

The fans rejoiced and even shed tears of joy after the Korean squad made history by qualifying for the round of 16 for the first time on foreign soil.

With a 2-2 draw against Nigeria, the national soccer team finished second in Group B behind Argentina.
