Ethnic Koreans Abroad Cheer Soccer Team

Ethnic Koreans abroad have cheered for the South Korean national soccer team in its first match against Greece in the World Cup.

About ten-thousand ethnic Koreans in Los Angeles watched the game at the Staples Center, while some five thousand gathered at a square in Koreatown to cheer on the Taegeuk Warriors.

In Japan, hundreds of ethnic Koreans gathered at the Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo and restuarants in the city to support the team. Ethnic Korean residents in Beijing did the same around the Chinese capital.

About 800 ethnic Koreans gathered to watch the game together at Dubai Mall in the United Arab Emirates. Those in red shirts rooted for the team in global cities including London and Shanghai.
