S.Korea Develops H1N1 Vaccine for Pigs

South Korea has completed its development of H1N1 influenza vaccines for pigs.

The National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service began developing the vaccines in the latter part of last year.

Pigs were infected with H1N1 at 17 pig farms in the country last year. The farms suffered losses due to restricted passage and other quarantine measures.

The quarantine service says it has also completed patent applications last month on a kit it has developed that enables detection of H1N1 infection in pigs within four hours.
