The nation will make its second attempt to launch its first satellite into space on Wednesday.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute said the nation's Naro space rocket will be launched Wednesday as scheduled following the successful completion of the final launch rehearsal on Tuesday.
The exact launch time will be announced at around 1:30 p.m. based on the results of the final rehearsal and weather conditions. If no problems arise, the Naro is expected to lift off at around 5 p.m. The aerospace agency said that Wednesday’s weather conditions around the launch site seem favorable.
Two hours prior to launch, fuel and oxidants will be injected into the rocket, and 15 minutes before liftoff, an automatic countdown system will begin.
The agency said that no technical problems are expected to emerge during Wednesday’s launch, noting that it conducted nearly 400 tests on the rocket parts and systems and carried out fairing separation tests five times.
In August of last year, the Naro failed to put a satellite into orbit due to problems with the separation of a fairing covering the satellite.
