Security Tightened at Naro Space Center

Security has been stepped up at the Naro Space Center with the launch of the nation’s “Naro” space rocket just two days away.

A 300-member security task force was launched on Monday to prevent any possible emergencies that could occur during the launch.

The task force is comprised of members from 15 agencies and includes firefighters, police officers and medical staffers.

The team has conducted its final drills in preparation for the launch and is continuing to assess readiness for emergency scenarios.

A security checkpoint at the entrance to the space center has been set up and public access within a three-kilometer radius around the center is now prohibited.

Ten coast guard vessels are patrolling areas off the coast of Goheung, South Jeolla Province, where the space center is located.

The rocket is scheduled to launch on Wednesday afternoon.
