Late Navas Goal Lifts Spain over Korea, 1-0

The national soccer team kept up with European champion Spain Thursday before falling 1-0 on a late goal in Innsbruck, Austria.

Jesus Navas blasted a shot past Korean goalie Jung Sung-Ryong in the 85th minute in the final exhibition game for both teams before the World Cup.

Korea coach Huh Jung-moo opted not to play team captain Park Ji-sung in the game. Defender Lee Young-pyo captained the team in his stead.

Korea blew its best scoring chance right before halftime. Park Chu-young penetrated into the penalty box but his shot was blocked by the Spanish goalie. Lee Chung-yong got the rebound and tried firing the ball into the net but the goalie got a hand on the ball for another save.

The Taegeuk Warriors lost their second straight game following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Belarus on Sunday.

Korea will play Greece June 12th in the opening World Cup Group B game for both teams in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
