S.Korea Finalizes World Cup Roster

South Korea’s final roster for the World Cup in South Africa has been set.

Head coach Huh Jung-moo held a news conference in Neustift, Austria, where he announced the 23 players who made the final cut, including Lee Dong-gook. Those left off the team include Lee Keun-ho, Shin Hyung-min and Koo Ja-cheol.

Overseas-based players Park Ji-sung, Lee Chung-yong, Park Chu-young, Ki Sung-yong and Cha Du-ri made the team, as did Cho Yong-hyung, Kim Hyung-il and Kim Jae-sung.

Lee Dong-guk injured his thigh during a May 16th friendly against Ecuador but was able to make it on the roster after a successful recovery. He last participated in the World Cup in 1998 in France.

Lee Keun-ho was booted due to his poor play in recent days, while Shin Hyung-min and Koo Ja-cheol came up short in the stiff competition for midfielder roster spots.

Team Korea will hold its final friendly with Spain before heading to South Africa on Saturday.
