Major world news media carried stories on the Korean soccer team's failure to advance to the final by suffering defeat against Germany Tuesday night. The Associated Press reported that the Korean locomotive can now see the end of its run. It said further that the fact that Korean team has advanced to the last four can be regarded as a great accomplishment, while giving high praises to the enthusiastic yet orderly cheering manner of Korean supporters known as the "Red Devils." AP also sent news on Korean soccer by saying that the Korean hailstorm has wrought enormous shock to the World Cup arena, which unfortunately has seen its end right before the threshold of final round. AP said, however, the Korean defeat was not a disappointing one at all. It reported that despite the loss, the Korean supporters gave the players a standing ovation, which would have surely left them with more solace than dejection. AFP also said the Korean performance over Germany, although it was defeated, has cleared up any controversies over misjudgement or favoritism as the Korean players have given their Germany opponents hard times throughout the game. ESPN in the US expressed regret over the halt of the Korean team's winning streak, saying that not much of the speed and charming dash of the Korean players was seen during the match over Germany.
