South Korean soccer striker Park Chu-young, playing for the French team AS Monaco, has been named one of eight promising stars who will shine at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Seven other star players selected by the British network Sky Sports include Uruguay's striker Edinson Cavani, Slovenia's Valter Birsa and Gervais Yao Kouassi from the Ivory Coast.

Sky Sports said Friday (Korean time) that South Korea aims to advance to the second round in the World Cup using Park and Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung.

The network said that with his skill, speed and impressive current performance, Park Chu-young will be one of the highlights of the games.
