The Korea Communications Commission has named the ten most promising broadcast communications service industries as the next generation of growth engines.

They include the so-called 4G broadcasting combining three-dimensional broadcasting and provision of very high-definition images; touch DMB, which enables two-way communication; and mobile convergence service, which can steadily provide 100-mega-bps transmission speed even on the move.

Another service is the object-to-object network that attaches sensors on objects to track their locations and enable remote control.

The commission says the ten fields will have a market value worth a combined nine trillion won by 2014 and will concentrate R&D investment for their implementation.
