South Korea’s Jang Mi-ran has been named the top female weightlifter of 2009 by the International Weightlifting Federation.

Jang was chosen as the top lifter by the global weightlifting community in the federation’s annual “Lifters of the Year” vote.

This is the second time Jang has claimed the honor. She also topped the vote in 2007.

Jang earned her fourth straight world championship title in record-setting fashion by winning two gold medals in the women’s super heavyweight division at the World Weightlifting Championships in November of last year.
