Poll: Half of S.Koreans Support Command Transfer Delay

A survey finds that nearly half of South Koreans think it is too early for the country to take back wartime command of its troops from the United States as planned in 2012.

Commissioned by the state-run Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, Hankook Research conducted on Saturday a telephone survey of 800 adults nationwide.

According to the poll results, 48-point-eight percent of those surveyed favor delaying the planned transfer, while 35-point-eight percent support proceeding with the plan as scheduled. Over 15 percent said they were not sure.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus three-and-a-half percent.
