Orser Denies Rumor on Coaching Asada

The coach of Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na has denied a rumor that he is considering coaching her chief rival Mao Asada of Japan.

Brian Orser told Yonhap News Agency Sunday that Kim, 20, remains his top priority and that he has not thought of coaching Asada, 20

He did admit, however, that he was offered the job of coaching Asada at last month’s world championships in Turin, Italy.

He says the offer was not official and that nothing has come of it since, adding he finds the rumor a bit funny.

Orser says that whether Kim decides to stay an amateur or turn pro, he wants to remain her coach.

He says he will talk to her about her future plans after she flies to Toronto at the end of May.
