S.Korean Drug Firm Develops New Anticancer Medicine

A South Korean pharmaceutical company says it has developed a new medicine that kills cancer stem cells.

Choongwae Pharma Corporation announced during a seminar of the American Association for Cancer Research on Tuesday that it has successfully completed the clinical trials on animals of the medicine, called CWP231A.

The firm said that it plans to begin clinical trials of the medicine for the treatment of leukemia and multiple myeloma patients in South Korea and the U.S. in the latter half of the year.
