The date for the nation’s second attempt to launch its first space rocket has been tentatively set for June ninth.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology announced on Monday the launch date for the “Naro-One” rocket in line with preparations being made for the launch.

In the event the launch cannot occur on June ninth due to unexpected factors, it will be postponed for a date between June tenth and the 19th.

A tentative launch time of between 4:30 and 6:40 in the afternoon has been set, but a finalized launch time will be made on the day of the launch based on weather conditions and the position of satellites in orbit.

Currently, the first and second stages of the rocket and a scientific satellite that the Naro will carry are being assembled at Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province. The rocket is expected to be fully assembled by the end of next month.

On August 25th of last year, the Naro failed to put a satellite into orbit due to problems with the separation of a fairing covering the satellite.
