Swedish Experts' Visit Delayed due to Iceland Volcano Eruption

A visit to the nation by four Swedish experts on naval accidents is being delayed as a volcano eruption in Iceland is shutting down airports in Europe.

A military source said Saturday that the four experts were scheduled to arrive in South Korea this weekend to join a military and civic joint probe team investigating the sinking of the "Cheonan.” The source said the Swedish group’s visit is being delayed as a large number of flights are being cancelled in Europe due to a volcano eruption in Iceland.

The Swedish group is made up of one Navy commander and three experts.

The role that the Swedish experts would play in the joint probe is drawing attention as a delegation from Sweden is active in the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission along with a delegation from Switzerland.
