Olympic figure skating gold medalist Kim Yu-na will defend her title at the World Figure Skating Championships in Torino, Italy, this weekend.

Kim will be the second skater of the final group to compete in the short program at that begins early Saturday morning, Korean time.

If she wins, Kim will be the first female figure skater to successfully defend her world title since American Michelle Kwan did it nine years ago.

The World Championships will also be the first for Kwak Min-jeong, a promising young Korean skater who finished in the middle of the pack at the Olympics in February.
