Team Korea swept all gold, silver and bronze medals in the men's and women's 15-hundred meter events on the first day of the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships under way in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.

In the men's 15-hundred meters, Kwak Yoon-gy finished first with a time of two minutes 24 seconds.

Sung Si-bak followed at second and Lee Ho-suk third.

In the women's event, Park Seung-hui took the gold clocking in at two minutes 21 seconds. Lee Eun-byul came in second and Jo Hae-ri third.

Korea also advanced to the finals in the women's 3000 meter relay for a match with China on Sunday.
