Korean Scientists Develop Self-Diagnosis Technology for Cancer

Korean scientists have developed a technology that they say people can use to determine on their own in 30 minutes whether they have cancer.

The team says the new technology is expected to make cancer diagnosis as easy as checking blood sugar levels.

A few drops of blood are placed on a bio-sensor semiconductor chip and put it into an analyzer. After a 30-minute serum test, three figures that can be used to indicate the presence of liver, prostate, or colon cancer appear on the monitor.

The technology, which measures the concentration of cancerous proteins in the blood, can also be used to diagnose other diseases.
