Korea Selects Candidates for 2022 World Cup Bid

South Korea's 2022 World Cup bidding committee has selected 12 candidate cities and 14 stadiums the nation would use should Korea get the nod to host the international sporting event.

The committee said Thursday that the South Korean cities of Cheonan and Goyang have been included on the list, along with ten other cities that hosted the 2002 World Cup, including Seoul, Busan and Daegu.

Seoul World Cup Stadium has been selected as the would-be venue for a closing ceremony and the final game for the 2022 World Cup.

The committee plans to submit to FIFA its bid intent for the 2022 World Cup by May 14th.

The international soccer governing body will announce on December second the host cities for both the 2018 and 2022 World Cup.
