NYT: Kim Yu-na's Short Program was 'Perfect'

The New York Times says South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na’s world-record performance in the women’s short program at the ongoing Vancouver Winter Olympics was the “perfect combination of artistic and athletic.”

Kim appeared on the front page of the U.S. daily’s Wednesday edition after putting up a tantalizing short program score of 78.50 to beat out Japanese rival Mao Asada.

In its report titled "Pressure Is No Problem for Kim Yu-na," the paper said Kim was unfazed by the strong performance by Asada, who skated just before Kim.

The U.S. TV network NBC, who is the exclusive broadcaster of the Vancouver Olympics, also showed keen interest in Kim, calling her a Korean superstar and introducing her practice scenes and filming of TV commercials.
