South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-na will begin her quest for gold in the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

Kim, the reigning world champion and the top-earning female athlete in the Olympics, will skate 23rd among the 30 figure skaters who will compete in the women’s short program to be held at the Pacific Coliseum.

Media forecasts show that Kim, Canada’s Joannie Rochette and Japan’s Mao Asada and Miki Ando are the favorites to win gold.
