Lee Seung-hoon Wins 10,000M Speed Skating Gold

South Korea's Lee Seung-hoon has won the gold medal in the men's ten-thousand-meter speed skating event at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Lee won the race held at the Richmond Olympic Oval on Tuesday with a time of 12 minutes and 58.55 seconds, 37-hundredths of a second faster than the previous Olympic record.

Although Sven Kramer of the Netherlands finished 4.05 seconds faster than Lee, the South Korean was given the gold after Kramer was disqualified for a lane infringement.

Last week, Lee won a silver medal in the men’s five-thousand-meter speed skating event.

South Korea currently ranks sixth in terms of gold medals with five.
