South Korea's Lee Sang-hwa, winner of the 500-meter speed skating event at the ongoing Vancouver Winter Olympics, failed to medal in the women's 1,000-meter speed skate held Friday (KST).

Lee finished 23rd in the 1,000-meter event with a time of one minute 18.24 seconds.

South Korea currently sits in a four-way tie for third in terms of gold medals behind the U.S., Germany and Canada.
