Lee Jung-su Claims Korea's 1st Gold

Lee Jung-su has won Korea's first gold medal of the Vancouver Winter Olympics in the men's 15-hundred meter short-track event at Pacific Coliseum.

He won with a time of 2:17:611, but Korea just missed sweeping all three medals in the event due to a late spill by two of his teammates in the final lap.

Sung Si-bak and Lee Ho-suk were close on Lee Jung-su's tail toward the finish line. But Lee Ho-suk collided into Sung and both spilled out on the ice.

Sung finished fifth and Lee Ho-suk was disqualified. This gave Apollo Anton Ohno of the U.S. the silver and teammate J.R. Celski the bronze.

Earlier in the day, Lee Seung-hoon won the silver medal in the 5,000-meter speed skating final with a time of 6:16:95.
