Korea Wins 1st Medal in Vancouver Games

Men's speed skater Lee Seung-hoon has won Korea's first medal at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Lee won the silver Saturday at Richmond Olympic Oval in the 5,000-meter speed skating final with a time of six minutes 16.95 seconds. He finished 2.35 seconds behind winner Sven Kramer of the Netherlands.

Twenty-two-year-old Lee is the third Korean to win an Olympic medal in speed skating. Kim Yun-man who won the silver in the men's 1,000 meters in the 1992 Albertville Olympics and Lee Kang-Seok took the bronze in the 2006 Torino Olympics.

Lee Seung-hoon is also the first Asian to win an Olympic medal in a long-track speed skating event.
