Korea Loses 1st to China in Soccer

The national soccer team has lost to China for the first time in a 3-0 drubbing at the East Asian Championships in Tokyo.

Yu Hai scored the opening goal in the fifth minute on a header. Teammate Gao Lin doubled the lead in the 27th minute thanks to a defensive error by Kwak Tae-hee.

Deng Zhuoxiang finished the scoring in stellar fashion, driving one home in a superb individual effort in the 60th minute.

Korea had been 27-0 against China in international matches over the past 32 years, but this game clearly belonged to the Chinese, who are seeking their second straight title in this tournament.

Korea plays its final game of the championship against Japan Sunday.
