KTX II to Go into Service in March

The domestically developed KTX II bullet train will go into operation starting next month.

The high-speed train can run at a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

With motors installed in every car, the KTX II performs substantially better than the existing KTX I.

Eighty-seven percent of the latest bullet-train technologies have been created using homegrown technologies.

The new trains will go into service in mid-December on the Honam Line between Seoul and Mokpo and on the Gyeongbu Line between Seoul and Busan.

South Korea is seeking to clinch deals worth 23 billion U.S. dollars with Brazil and Turkey to export the KTX II.

The nation will have the KTX III, with a top speed of 400 kilometers per hour, developed by 2015.
