2 Korean Judoka Win at Paris Grand Slam

Judoka Wang Ki-choon (photo) and Kim Joo-jin have both won gold medals at the Paris Grand Slam, the first Grand Slam event of the year of the International Judo Federation.

World No. 1 Wang, 22, beat in the French capital Saturday Hiroyuki Akimoto of Japan to take his second straight title in the event in the men's 73-kilogram class. Wang is 53-0 against the Japanese.

Wang had surprisingly been eliminated in last month's World Masters in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

The Paris Grand Slam is the No. 3 event in world judo behind the world championships and the World Masters.

Kim Joo-jin took the gold in the men's 66-kilogram class by beating top-ranked Miaragchaa Sanjaasuren of Mongolia.

For the women, Chung Jung-yeon settled for the bronze medal after losing to world No. 2 Frederique Jossinet of France in the semifinal.
