President Lee: Software Developers Should be Protected

President Lee Myung-bak says in order for Korea to become a software powerhouse, software developers must be adequately protected.

At Thursday’s emergency economic response meeting, Lee stressed the need for cooperation from companies and users as well as efforts by the government to make the environment safe for software developers.

He added that the rapid changes in the software industry meant that responses to such developments should be made by flexible policies rather than stringent legislations that require much time to pass.

To prevent large software companies from putting smaller players out of business, the president requested the two focus on separate specialties.
