North Korea has won a four-country soccer tournament in Qatar despite losing the final game 1-0 to Iran.

The North finished the event with six points from three games. Host Qatar and Mali each had four points and Iran had just three.

A Hong Yong-jo goal was enough to defeat Mali, 1-0, in the opening game. Choe Chol-man headed in the winning goal in the North's 1-0 win over Qatar.

The communist country has qualified for the World Cup in South Africa this year, its first since the 1966 tournament in England.
