Hwang Heads Cloning Team for Bomb-Sniffing Dog

A group of scientists is cloning the renowned bomb-sniffing police dog "Quinn," who is credited for finding the body of a missing child on Jeju Island in April 2007.

Led by controversial cloning expert Hwang Woo-suk, the team of scientists at the Sooam Biotech Research Foundation said Thursday that they are cloning the dog at the request of the Jeju Provincial Police Agency and that they are carrying out the work free of charge.

Professor Hyun Sang-hwan from the team said three surrogate mother dogs successfully conceived in October and are expected to give birth to cloned puppies on January second, 14th and the 21st of next year.

The German shepherd "Quinn" found the body of a missing elementary school student on the island province 20 minutes after being sent into an orchard, ending a search that had involved 30-thousand people.
