Golfer Shin Ji-yai has been named Female Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America.

The 21-year-old was the LPGA Rookie of the Year and also closed out the season atop the money list.

Each year, the association honors the best male, female and senior players of the year.

Shin finished with 105 votes to beat out second-place finisher Lorena Ochoa, who racked up 85.

The other two honorees were Tiger Woods and Loren Roberts.
