310,000 Watched Snow Jam in Gwanghwamun

The Seoul Metropolitan Government estimates that 310-thousand people watched the FIS Snowboard World Cup Big Air Competition, the Snow Jam 2009, held in downtown Seoul's Gwanghwamun Plaza from Friday to Sunday.

Officials say 150 journalists from 65 foreign media channels, including CNN, NHK and the Associated Press, came to broadcast the event. Including Korean media, some 400 reporters from 190 outlets participated.

Seoul believes the sporting event helped to promote the city to the world.

Officials contend the event will be aired in one hundred nations via 12 international sports channels, including ESPN STAR Sports and EuroSports.

An ice skating rink in Gwanghwamun Plaza will be open to the public until February 14th.
